MedAssets Supply Chain Systems Awards Contract To Inviro Medical Devices

Atlanta, GA - MedAssets Supply Chain Systems and Inviro Medical Devices have entered into an agreement that provides MedAssets customers access to Inviro's extensive portfolio of safety hypodermic needle and syringe products.

MedAssets Supply Chain Systems selected Inviro Medical through an assessment conducted at its Technology and Innovation Forum in September 2006. This annual event is a forum that showcases companies of all sizes with new and unique technology. These companies are reviewed and ranked by the MedAssets Supply Chain Systems customer advisory committees. Based on the committee ranking MedAssets writes GPO agreements with select manufacturers. John Kautzer, Director of Distribution stated, "The recently completed agreement with Inviro Medical brings a unique safety technology to our mutual customers. It also helps broaden the overall safety portfolio that MedAssets offers."

"We are pleased to enter into this supplier partnership with the MedAssets team," says Jim Charlesworth, SVP of sales for Inviro Medical Devices. "The clinical response to our line of safety products during the MedAssets Supply Chain Systems Technology and Innovation Forum was extremely positive, and mirrors what we've seen across the country. There is a definitive need for Inviro's unique, patented safety syringe technology."

Inviro Medical Devices engineers and markets safe medication delivery systems, including the patented InviroSNAP!® Safety Syringe. After years of research to develop its patents and refine its product designs, the company is addressing the growing $1.6 billion safety syringe market and introducing its breakthrough infection control technology in North America.

The company's flagship product, the innovative SNAP! Safety Syringe is a manually retractable safety syringe that provides distinct protection and performance advantages.

  • While most safety syringes are retro-fitted using add-on pieces, this device is uniquely engineered with the safety feature integral to the design.
  • It looks and functions like a traditional syringe and is easy to use.
  • After using standard technique to administer a medication dose, the clinician pulls the plunger back, causing the needle to retract inside the barrel. The plunger is then snapped off, permanently disabling the device.
  • The InviroSNAP! Safety Syringe is available in fixed needle and exchangeable needle configurations, both featuring the same "Push, Pull, SNAP!" safety system.

The InviroSNAP! Exchangeable combinations consists of Luer Lock Safety Syringes, the InviroLINK > > Vial Access Plastic Cannula and Exchangeable Needles in a range of sizes. The InviroLINK Vial Access Plastic Cannula is a safe alternative for vial access, replacing steel needles and providing versatility in syringe filling from single and multiple vials, and for reconstitution. The InviroSNAP! Exchangeable System is compatible with split septum and needlefree connector IV injection sites.

The InviroSTRIPE Luer Lock syringe is the only syringe on the market with an integral ‘write-on' stripe, allowing critical information to be recorded directly onto the syringe barrel. The ‘write-on' STRIPE, which may also be used for consistent, accurate placement of pre-printed medication labels, assists in addressing The Joint Commission labeling requirements. Additionally, the white stripe enhances the visibility of the gradations.

"We are delighted to enter this agreement with MedAssets Supply Chain Systems," says Gareth Clarke, chief executive officer of Inviro Medical Devices. "Their decision to make Inviro's unique safety technology available to their customers represents a significant endorsement of the company and its range of products. We look forward to working with MedAssets to help enhance both employee and patient safety at their customers' facilities."
